SIMBA CONFIRMS PARTICIPATION IN 64 TEAM FKF CUP

FKF National Division One side SS Assad FC popularly referred to as Simba has  confirmed participation for the 2019/2020 FKF Cup. Club chairman Shukran Kuzi made the revelation as Football Kenya Federation released the schedule as well as the tournament’s registration  forms to the interested FKF Affiliate clubs. ‘’The tournament is a great opportunity for SS Assad to test themselves against the toughest teams in the country. It provides the players with the much needed exposure and an platform to showcase their talent. ’’ said Kuzi The Ukunda based side will be making their fifth consecutive appearance in the showpiece and Kuzi is delighted with the publicity and recognition the club has received. SS Assad were rewarded a cool ksh 500,000/- for reaching the third play off stage of  the previous edition in which they lost 7-1 KPL side KCB during the match played at MISC Kasarani stadium in June 2019. SS Assad made their debut appearance in the showpiece in 2016 in which they suffered 7-1 away defeat to Western Stima at Moi Stadium Kisumu. The following year they were drubbed 0-5 by Tusker FC at KPA Sports Club Mbaraki. Their third attempt last year saw them being humiliated 1-5 by Gor Mahia at KPA Sports Club Mbaraki. According to this seasons schedule the tournament formerly known as FKF Sports Pesa Shield Cup is expected to attract a total of 64 teams and will kick off with first round matches on 18’th-19’th January 2020 and conclude with the finals on 31’st May, 2020.
